Fosters Solicitors

Employment Lawyer

About Us

Formed in 1761, Fosters Solicitors is one of the oldest law firms in England. From that rich heritage we have grown into a modern, vibrant law firm with a culture and values that puts our clients, colleagues and partners at the centre of all we do.

The Role

We are looking for a confident and personable team player to join our Employment team.

Working with a variety of employer and employee clients, including a mixture of contentious and non-contentious work, our team is dedicated to providing a pragmatic and efficient service for our clients. We are keen to grow our Employment team and are looking for a new team member to work alongside the head of our department to increase the number of clients we can support. We are regularly praised by clients for avoiding the stuffy formality they have experienced at other firms, and we are looking for somebody that enjoys working in this more informal way.

This role would likely suit a lawyer either newly qualified or with up to four years post qualification experience, or somebody with equivalent experience.

Main Responsibilities

  • In House clients: You will provide regular employment advice to our pool of Fosters In House clients. These clients outsource all their commercial and employment legal work to our Business & Commercial team and work with us on a retained basis. You will have the opportunity to build and develop relationships with these clients across a range of industry sectors, including our specialism of working with top level sports clients.
  • Ad hoc work: You will assist clients with one-off employment enquiries, both contentious (tribunal claims) and non-contentious. These instructions will come from a mixture of employer and employee clients. You will respond to initial enquiries from these clients, quoting for the work, and the provision of advice to those clients that go on to instruct us.
  • Business development: You will assist the team with the winning of new work and the development of professional relationships with new clients and potential referrers of work. This will include attendance at occasional networking events.

We are looking for the successful candidate to possess the following skills:

  • Able to manage their own caseload.
  • A strong background in Employment law.
  • Excellent drafting skills.
  • Able to work to deadlines and prioritise their own workload.
  • Excellent client care skills.
  • Work effectively as a team member within a busy and successful department.

· A supportive and inclusive work environment.
