From our rich heritage, we’ve grown into a modern, progressive firm that values integrity, professionalism, and exceptional client care. We put our clients, colleagues, and partners at the heart of everything we do.

The Opportunity

We are looking to appoint an experienced Family Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or equivalent professional with significant expertise in privately funded family law. While we would typically expect candidates to have around eight years’ experience or more, we welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate the skills, technical ability and leadership qualities required for the role.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced lawyer and leader who is looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in shaping the future of our Family department. We are seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative team player with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering outstanding client care.

You will provide specialist advice across all areas of privately funded family law, with particular experience in advising those with substantial assets and complex financial arrangements arising from relationship breakdown. You will be an empathetic and commercially minded lawyer who can balance exceptional client service with effective leadership and business development.

As Head of Family, you will be responsible for leading, developing and growing the department, supporting colleagues to thrive whilst maintaining the high standards of client care and technical expertise that underpin our reputation.

This position is being offered on a full-time basis, although applications from candidates seeking part-time or flexible working arrangements will be considered.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of privately funded family matters, including divorce, financial remedy and children arrangements matters from initial instruction through to resolution.
  • Advise clients on complex and high-value financial matters with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and case analysis, including liaising with experts, counsel and the courts where required.
  • Provide empathetic, client-focused support, maintaining regular communication to ensure clients are fully informed and supported throughout the legal process.
  • Ensure clients achieve the best possible outcomes through effective negotiation, strategic thinking and excellent legal advice.
  • Lead and develop the Family team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Supervise, mentor and support junior members of staff, including apprentices and trainee solicitors, helping to develop the next generation of family lawyers.
  • Play an active role in business development by maintaining and developing relationships with existing and prospective referrers and professional contacts. This will include attendance at networking and marketing events where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and growth of the Family department, identifying opportunities to enhance the services we provide to our clients.
