Poppy Appeal volunteer nominated as Community Hero

Fosters Solicitors

This month’s Fosters Solicitors’ Community Hero is Chris Page, nominated for his outstanding commitment to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Chris’s connection with the charity began when he was a young Scout, earning his Remembrance badge.

His interest deepened further after researching his father’s military history, which dates back to before 1930.

Since then, Chris has dedicated countless hours to collecting donations in uniform across Norwich and the wider Norfolk area, supporting the Poppy Appeal and helping raise vital funds for veterans and their families.

A lifelong supporter of Norwich City, Chris said he was proud to be recognised by his boyhood club: “I am so proud to have had my name put forward to receive the Community Hero award.

“I’ve been involved with the Poppy Appeal a long time and have been a season ticket holder at Carrow Road for many years, so it’s fantastic to be able to combine the two!”

Nominated by Zoe Harris, Poppy Appeal manager for Norfolk, said: “Chris is a familiar face across Norfolk, regularly giving his time to collect donations in Norwich city centre, at football matches and in local supermarkets.

“No matter the weather, location, or challenge, nothing phases him. He is always willing to step forward, help where needed, and represent the Poppy Appeal with enthusiasm and commitment.

“Chris’s reliability, positivity and selfless dedication have made a real difference to our fundraising efforts and helped ensure we can continue supporting veterans and their families.

“His passion for the Armed Forces community and willingness to volunteer whenever called upon embodies the very spirit of community service.”

Chris will be back collecting donations for the Poppy Appeal at Carrow Road, ahead of Norwich City’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Watford.

About our Community Hero initiative

Since 2019, Fosters Solicitors have joined our partners Norwich City Football Club in highlighting the great work of local individuals and organisations in our community.

Every month during the football season, a ‘Community Hero’ is chosen for a selected matchday – providing an opportunity to showcase that person(s) or initiatives selfless work or important community campaign.

Previous Community Heroes have included young carers, veterans, equality campaigners, charity fundraisers and their beneficiaries.
