This month’s Fosters Solicitors’ Community Hero is eight-year-old Leo, nominated for his incredible fundraising for the Community Sports Foundation at this year’s Junior Run Norwich race.
Leo’s running journey started shortly after the devastating loss of his mum Lucy who sadly lost her battle with brain cancer last year.
Our Community Hero approached his dad Gregg and asked if he could do something to raise some money to support one of the many organisations that helped their family navigate this difficult journey.
Gregg said: “During Lucy’s treatment, Norwich City were kind enough to invite us to their training ground and shortly thereafter we were invited to watch a game in the directors’ box.
“It was here that we had the pleasure of meeting Tom Smith and his lovely family, who very passionately told us about the life-changing work the Community Sports Foundation do.
“As a family, we were so touched by the kindness we received from the club, the Foundation, Tom, Delia Smith and the many representatives of the club who took time out of their busy schedules to bring Lucy, Leo and Alex (Leo’s younger brother) these precious memories.”
Despite his dad’s fondness for Arsenal, Leo has followed in his mum’s footsteps and is now a passionate Norwich City fan just like she was.
He is often found wearing yellow and green, whether that’s in the form of a football kit, tracksuit or onesie.
On being nominated for the award, Leo said: “I’m proud to be recognised for my fundraising and I am keen to be part of next year’s race as well as other charity events in the future!”
Emma Fletcher-Dungay from the Foundation said: “We are delighted that Leo will be recognised as Community Hero for the Bristol fixture.
“He was our top fundraiser for our Junior Run back in September, raising close to £3,000 which is just incredible.
“Leo is an amazing individual and his reasons behind taking part and wanting to raise money for the Foundation are heartwarming.”

Since 2019, Fosters Solicitors have joined our partners Norwich City Football Club in highlighting the great work of local individuals and organisations in our community.
Every month during the football season, a ‘Community Hero’ is chosen for a selected matchday – providing an opportunity to showcase that person(s) or initiatives selfless work or important community campaign.
Previous Community Heroes have included young carers, veterans, equality campaigners, charity fundraisers and their beneficiaries.
