Head of Commercial Property

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Head of Commercial Property to lead and further develop our established and growing Commercial Property team.

This is a senior leadership role for an individual who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to drive strategy and mentor colleagues.

The role

The Head of Commercial Property will have overall responsibility for the leadership, performance and continued development of the Commercial Property department.

Main responsibilities:

  • Leading, managing and developing the Commercial Property team, ensuring high standards of performance and service delivery.
  • Maintaining a varied and high-quality caseload of commercial property work.
  • Building and sustaining strong client relationships, with a focus on client retention, business development and cross-referrals.
  • Setting departmental objectives, managing workloads and supporting effective supervision and mentoring.
  • Contributing to the firm’s strategic planning, growth initiatives and operational decision-making alongside the Senior Management Team and Board.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory, risk management and quality standards.

The Candidate

We are looking for a senior Commercial Property Solicitor/Partner who can demonstrate:

  • 5+ years PQE in commercial property law.
  • Proven experience of leading or managing a team.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
  • A collaborative leadership style aligned with firm-wide objectives.

Previous experience in a head of department or similar senior role is desirable, but we would also welcome applications from candidates with the ambition and aptitude to step up into a management role.
