We are delighted to welcome Jacob Cook, Solicitor, to the firm. Jacob joins us with a strong focus on intellectual property (IP), media and technology, working across both our Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Business & Commercial teams.
Jacob advises on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters, with particular expertise in the exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights. His dual-department role enables him to support clients strategically, whether they are navigating complex disputes or seeking proactive commercial advice to protect and maximise the value of their IP assets.
Within Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Jacob assists clients with a wide variety of commercial and business disputes, including shareholder disputes, director and corporate governance issues, partnership disputes, breach of contract claims, and intellectual property disputes. His IP litigation experience spans matters involving trade marks and passing off, copyright, design rights, patents, breach of confidence, databases and domain names.
Alongside this, Jacob advises clients on non-contentious intellectual property matters, including trade mark registrations, assignments and licensing arrangements, as well as IP audits and health checks designed to identify risk, strengthen protection, and support long-term commercial objectives.
Jacob’s appointment further strengthens the firm’s intellectual property and technology offering, complementing the work of both departments, which are recognised in four categories of The Legal 500 UK 2026, including Intellectual Property and Media, Entertainment and Sport.
Commenting on joining Fosters, Jacob Cook commented: “I’m really pleased to be joining the firm and working across both the Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Business & Commercial teams. Intellectual property is often at the heart of a business’s value, and I enjoy helping clients both protect their rights and enforce them when disputes arise. I’m looking forward to supporting clients with practical, commercially focused advice across a wide range of IP and technology matters.”
Partner and Fosters’ Head of Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Chris Fielding said: “Jacob’s arrival is an excellent addition to the firm. His particular strength lies in combining contentious IP expertise with a strong understanding of commercial realities. That crossover is hugely valuable to both departments and to our clients, especially in areas such as media, technology and brand protection. He will play an important role in continuing to develop our intellectual property offering.”
