About us

Formed in 1761, Fosters Solicitors is one of the oldest law firms in England. From that rich heritage we have grown into a modern, vibrant law firm with a culture and values that puts our clients, colleagues and partners at the centre of all we do.

The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who has an interest in family and children matters and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment as part of a busy department.

As a Paralegal in our Family & Children team, you will provide essential support to our lawyers, assisting in case preparation, legal research, document drafting, and client contact. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to develop their career in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assisting solicitors with case management in all aspects of public and private law children matters. This could include dealing with day-to-day correspondence, drafting documents, legal research, using the Legal Aid CCMS system and speaking to clients.
  • Conducting legal research and preparing case summaries.
  • Drafting legal documents, including witness statements, applications, and correspondence.
  • Managing client files and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaising with clients, courts, and other third parties professionally and efficiently.
  • Attending court hearings and taking detailed notes when required.
  • Providing administrative support as needed.

Previous experience in a similar paralegal role is preferable but not essential for the right candidate.

The following are essential:

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
  • A proactive and client-focused approach.

Further training will be provided and the opportunity to develop is available to the right candidate.

  • Opportunities for career development and progression.
  • A supportive and inclusive work environment.
