Fosters Solicitors

IT Apprentice

Looking for your first step into the world of IT?

Become an IT Apprentice and gain real experience from day one. You’ll be supporting our systems, helping colleagues with everyday IT challenges, and working towards recognised qualifications that will set you up for a career in technology.

About us

Formed in 1761, Fosters Solicitors is one of the oldest law firms in England. From that rich heritage we have grown into a modern, vibrant law firm with a culture and values that puts our clients, colleagues and partners at the centre of all we do.

The opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in IT within a professional legal environment. As our IT Apprentice, you’ll be part of a small, experienced, and supportive team, helping to ensure that our employees have the technology and support they need to deliver outstanding service to our clients.

You will gain hands-on experience across a variety of systems and platforms, at Level 1 support. As your confidence and capability grow, so too will the scope of your responsibilities.

The role will initially be based on a standard working pattern of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. However, flexibility will be required, and working hours may be adjusted to 8am to 4pm, or similar, depending on business needs. There may also be occasional requirements for out-of-hours work, such as during system maintenance or projects.

Main responsibilities

You will play a vital role in supporting our employees by ensuring smooth day-to-day operations within the Firm. Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Provide first-line technical support to colleagues across all departments and offices.
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Configure and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including user account setup.
  • Monitor and log IT service requests via our ticketing system.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for IT assets and procedures.
  • Support wider IT initiatives including system upgrades, audits, and projects.
  • Uphold data protection and confidentiality in line with legal and regulatory requirements.

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

  • A strong interest in IT and a desire to build a career in the field.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional communication style.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a small team.
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Windows 11 environments.
  • Basic understanding of networking, IT security and safe working practices.
  • Any prior experience in customer service or support (including informal or voluntary roles).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Why join us?

At Fosters Solicitors, we believe in supporting our employees’ professional growth and well-being. We offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of IT systems used in a legal practice.
  • Receive structured training through a recognised IT apprenticeship programme and the continual opportunity to develop.
  • Work in a supportive and experienced team.
