Community and Event News: November 2024

Throughout the year, Fosters Solicitors hosts and attends a variety of events in association with our business and community partners, as well as undertaking activities to support the well-being of our colleagues and our wider local community network.

Here’s what a wonderfully busy November had in store for us across the firm!

 

 

Loveday & Partners Business Breakfast

Members of our Wills, Trusts & Probate and Court of Protection & Vulnerable Persons team attended this networking event, which included a presentation by the community interest company, Able2Be, which has been set up to develop services that help improve function for children and adults with a disability. The team are pictured with co-founders Rachael Hutchinson and Jon Thaxton. Elisa Bristo, our Court of Protection Paralegal also took the opportunity to visit the local Able2Be facility.

 

N&N Festival Breakfast

Our Commercial Director, Will Hoy and Head of HR, Rebecca Colman were delighted to attend a corporate partners’ breakfast event at Jarrolds, introducing the early Norfolk & Norwich Festival programme for 2025.

 

Congratulations Liberty!

A huge well done to our Commercial Property apprentice Liberty Amies on achieving a distinction in her Level 3 Cilex Paralegal exams and successfully completing the Paralegal Apprenticeship with BPP. She has now started the Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship – congratulations Liberty!

 

Veteran fan named Community Hero

Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, veteran and Canary fan John Kett was nominated as the Fosters Solicitors Community Hero for Norwich City’s match against Bristol City.

Our Partner, Rebecca Laws presented John with a certificate to mark the event at Carrow Road.

 

Remembrance Sunday

Our office in Wymondham joined others within the town marking the annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations.

 

Headway Boccia Tournament

Our Personal Injury team continued their annual support of Headway Norfolk and Waveney through their boccia tournament at the UEA.

A Team Fosters took part in the competition, alongside local service users of the charity.

 

Dementia café support

This month, both Elisa Bristo (pictured right) and Helen Hinde (pictured left) of our Court of Protection & Vulnerable Persons team, attended dementia cafes in both Lowestoft and Wymondham. They had the pleasure of meeting with regular attendees to learn about their experiences and provide information and answer questions about managing their health and financial affairs.

 

New Partner at Fosters Solicitors

We were delighted to confirm the promotion of Josh Perez-Fosh to a Partner at the firm.

Josh (pictured left) joined Fosters in April 2021 to head its Corporate team and through the firm’s internal career development programme has now risen to join the partnership.

 

 

Associate Promotions

We are delighted to announce the promotion of a number of our colleagues who have recently progressed through our career development programme.

Newly promoted to Associates of the firm are; Anne Saunderson, Gemma Buskell, Lauren Beldom, Lauren Crosby, Louise Gibbs-Kneller and Siobhán Pearson.

Whilst long-standing colleagues, Charlotte Darkins and Sam Cubitt have become Senior Associates.

 

Celebrating cricketing legend

Commercial Director, Will Hoy and Partner, Simon Loome attended an Evening with Henry Blofeld OBE, hosted by Ascot Lloyd at Group 1 Norwich BMW. It was an enjoyable evening hearing from the cricketing commentary legend alongside fellow local organisations.

 

Sowerbys’ 30th Anniversary Charity Ball

Colleagues from departments across the firm attended this event which supported five nominated Norfolk based charities. Thank you to Sowerbys for a lovely evening!

 

 

Foundation Friends

We were invited to attend the ‘Friends of the Foundation’ networking event, where the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation thanked partner organisations for their impact and support of the charity during 2024.

 

Oasis Norfolk Short Film Festival

Partners, Lucy Simpson and Chris Fielding supported Oasis Norfolk at their Transgender Day of Remembrance Short Film Festival held at The Forum in Norwich.

 

Business Leaders Dinner 2024

We joined lots of local friends and partners at the annual Norwich City Community Sports Foundation event at Carrow Road, which helped raise £15,000 for the charity.

 

Legal support for charity of the year

Our Associate, Louise Gibbs-Kneller continued her support of Finnbar’s Force by holding a drop-in legal surgery at the charity’s family hub centre, The Den.

 

Charity nominates corporate fundraiser as Community Hero

Age UK Norwich nominated Jo Hoy of the Maids Head Hotel to celebrate their fundraising and event support for the charity locally.

Partner, David Gabell made a presentation to Jo at Norwich City’s match with Plymouth Argyle.

 

Volunteering support

A group of colleagues joined the Finnbar’s Force volunteer group in Hethersett as they prepared for their festive lights switch on, helping put up lights across the village.

 

AvMA conference

As an accredited panel member of Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA), our Head of Medical Negligence, David Gabell headed to London for their conference discussing the latest issues in patient safety and the positive work of the organisation and its accredited firms across the country.

 

Fosters’ Friday

We ended a busy month at the firm with mince pies all round and colleague walks across our offices. Here’s a few of us at Pull’s Ferry in Norwich!

 

Finnbar’s Force Festive Lights Switch on

The charity hit the switch on its annual Christmas lights display in Hethersett. The display is throughout December and is to both raise awareness of and funds for Finnbar’s Force. Find out more here >
