With Norwich’s electric scooter rental scheme set for expansion, this mode of transport looks like it will remain a feature of the local landscape for the foreseeable future.

Since September 2020, when the first trials started in the UK, e-scooters have been a hotly discussed subject – with some seeing them as a convenient way of getting about and helping remove carbon dioxide from the environment, and others concerned about their safety for both riders and the wider public.

Although many rental schemes around the country, including Norwich, are having their licences renewed by the government – it remains illegal for privately-owned e-scooters to be used on public highways.
