Asbestos – the ticking time bomb
It is nearly 25 years since the use of asbestos was banned in the construction of new public buildings in the UK, but the consequences of its widespread use between the 1930s and 1980s are now being felt, with a rapid rise in the number of cases of mesothelioma – a fatal disease with an average life expectancy after diagnosis of just 12 months.
Changes to the calculation of CETVs
HM Treasury has announced changes to the calculation of cash equivalent transfer value (CETV) for those employed within the public sector, as of 30 March 2023.
Compensation secured in surgery injury claim
Matthew underwent mesh repair surgery to treat an abdominal hernia.
Following the surgery, Matthew developed an infection and following further multiple surgeries over a period of years the wound remained infected and unhealed, meaning he was unable to work and was practically housebound.
