Fosters Solicitors

Start your legal career with Fosters Solicitors – Applications open

We are delighted to share that applications are now officially open for both our 2026 Summer Vacation Scheme and our Trainee Solicitor Programme (commencing Autumn 2028).

If you’re considering a career in law and would love the chance to gain real, hands-on experience in a supportive, full-service firm, this could be the perfect next step.

Discover life in a law firm: Summer Vacation Scheme 2026

Our annual Summer Vacation Scheme offers students a valuable opportunity to experience what working in a busy, award-winning law firm is really like.

Taking place over two weeks from 29th June to 10th July 2026, the scheme is based in our Norwich office and is open to up to six students. During this time, successful applicants will spend time across at least two departments (depending on casework and final placements), gaining insight into a broad range of practice areas including:

  • Business & Commercial
  • Personal Injury & Group Actions
  • Medical Negligence & Inquests
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution
  • Crime & Business Defence
  • Family & Children
  • Wills, Trusts & Probate

You’ll be involved in a variety of meaningful tasks, from legal research and assisting on live client files (under supervision), to attending meetings and supporting our teams with day-to-day work. Working hours are 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday, giving you a realistic picture of professional life in practice.

We’re looking for enthusiastic applicants who are keen to learn, enjoy working as part of a team, and have strong attention to detail. Ideally, candidates will have at least three A Levels at grade B or above and be in their second year of university or higher – although first-year students are also welcome to apply. Applicants must be 18 or over.

One previous student summed up their experience beautifully: “The most valuable part of my time at Fosters has been the insight into what it is like to be a solicitor… being able to sit alongside solicitors, paralegals and personal assistants has helped me understand the different roles required in a law firm and enabled me to gain invaluable connections.”

  • To apply, simply send your CV and personal statement by email.
  • Closing date: 12th March 2026.
  • Interviews: 24th March – 9th April 2026.

Looking ahead: Trainee Solicitor Programme (Autumn 2028 Intake)

Alongside the Vacation Scheme, we are also welcoming applications for our Trainee Solicitor Programme, with training contracts starting in Autumn 2028.

Our programme is designed to help you develop into a confident, capable solicitor, offering structured, hands-on experience across both contentious and non-contentious work. Within our full-service practice you will build practical skills while being supported by experienced lawyers who are genuinely invested in your growth.

We’re passionate about nurturing talent and are looking for motivated candidates with strong academic records (typically a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent) who can demonstrate a real commitment to the firm and the legal profession.

Applications are by CV and covering letter, with your letter giving us insight into who you are and why you’d be a great fit for Fosters.

  • Closing date: 19th June 2026.
  • Successful applicants will be invited to an assessment day in Norwich in August/September 2026.
  • Priority will be given to candidates who have completed our Summer Vacation Scheme.

How to apply

Whether you’re taking your first steps into legal work or planning your longer-term career, both programmes offer a genuine chance to learn, connect, and grow. You’ll gain exposure to real cases, work alongside approachable professionals, and become part of a friendly, collaborative team that values curiosity, commitment, and people skills.
