The Anglian Combination Football League, in partnership with Fosters Solicitors, is delighted to announce that Wroxham Football Club has been selected as the winner of its 60th Anniversary Competition.
To help celebrate six decades of grassroots football across Norfolk and Suffolk, we asked clubs and their supporters to find and share memories and memorabilia to commemorate this special landmark.
The competition saw a number of excellent entries from clubs across the Anglian Combination past and present, each reflecting the history and community spirit that define the league. However, Wroxham in highlighting their own legacy, dating back from 1892, and their connection to the league made them the judges’ winning choice.
As one of the original founding members of the Anglian Combination, Wroxham FC has maintained an unbroken presence in the league for all its 60 years. With Wroxham Reserves recent promotion to the Eastern Counties Football League (Division 1), this record was under threat for next season.
However, Wroxham will be introducing a new development team in Division 5 for the 2025/26 season, and it is this squad that will proudly wear the competition’s winning prize of a new kit next campaign. This move ensures that Wroxham’s historical connection to the Anglian Combination not only remains unbroken but also extends into a new generation of players.
On confirming the news, Anglian Combination Chairman Dale Brown, said: “Wroxham’s application truly captured the spirit of this anniversary. Their continuous presence since the league’s foundation, and now the creation of a development side to help grow the game, represents exactly what the Anglian Combination is all about – tradition, community, and progress.”
Chairman of Wroxham FC, James Blower added: We are delighted to win the Anglian Combination 60th Anniversary competition. As a founder member, we have a long association with the league, and we will continue to do so with the introduction of a new development team into it for the forthcoming season.
“We are extremely grateful for the gift of kit from Fosters Solicitors – grassroots football doesn’t happen without the support of businesses like Fosters – and we thank them for their continued support of the Anglian Combination and local football.”
Fosters Solicitors’ Chief Executive, Chris Brown commented: “We are incredibly proud to support this celebration of grassroots football through our partnership with the Anglian Combination and thank again all those who participated.
“Wroxham’s dedication to the league and its values over six decades highlighted what this competition was all about. Their story stood out not just for its history, but for its future-facing vision in launching a new development team, congratulations to them.”
