Fosters Solicitors

Wills, Trusts & Probate Personal Assistants

About Us

Formed in 1761, Fosters Solicitors is one of the oldest law firms in England. From that rich heritage we have grown into a modern, vibrant law firm with a culture and values that puts our clients, colleagues and partners at the centre of all we do.

Our Wills, Trusts & Probate department are recommended in The Legal 500 UK for being a “highly professional team” – with several lawyers also highlighted for special mention, including head of department Lisa Glynne being recognised as a ‘Leading Partner’ in the rankings.

The firm was delighted to be named Best Regional Probate Law Firm in The Probate Industry Awards 2024 and be recognised in three categories at the 2024 Modern Law Private Client Awards – Private Client Team – Wills & Probate (16+ Solicitors), Law Firm of the Year and Outstanding Client Care (26+ employees).

The Opportunity

We are looking for two confident and personable team players to work alongside our joint deputy head of Wills, Trusts & Probate, Louise Gibbs-Kneller and team solicitor, Jordan Rodwell.

The positions would ideally suit experienced PAs who are able to prioritise their own and their fee-earner’s workloads, have exceptional organisational skills and initiative, with excellent client care skills – and who have calm, confident telephone manners, with an ability to work well under pressure and as effective team members.

Main responsibilities

  • Diary management: Efficiently manage and coordinate the diaries of the fee earners – scheduling meetings, appointments, and court hearings.
  • Document preparation: Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
  • Client liaison: Act as the first point of contact for clients – handling sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and providing exceptional client service.
  • Case management: Assist with the management of files, including maintaining accurate records, updating the case management systems, and ensuring compliance with court deadlines.
  • Billing and financial administration: Assist in the preparation of billing and manage financial records related to client accounts, including handling invoices and expenses.
  • Team support: Provide general administrative support to the team, including managing emails, filing, photocopying, and handling telephone calls.

Knowledge of Wills, Trusts and Probate work is not necessary but would be preferable for this position. The following are essential:

  • Previous experience as a Personal Assistant, with a legal background.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Strong administration skills, well organised, able to multitask and strong audio typing skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
  • Team player with the ability to organise your own workload and adapt and prioritise quickly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Further training will be provided and the opportunity to develop is available to the right candidates.
