About Chris

How Chris can help you

Since 2006, Chris has been named as a ‘leader in his field’ in the Chambers & Partners Guide and has also earned praise in The Legal 500 UK, which describes Fosters Solicitors as a ‘Top Tier’ firm.

Chris supports clients through a wide range of criminal cases, including allegations of murder, manslaughter and complex fraud cases. He has also acted for a number of local businesses in relation to high-value Trading Standards prosecutions and Health and Safety Executive cases. He has also advised prison officers, police officers and nurses charged with offences arising from their employment. Alongside this work, he is regularly instructed by clients in respect of the full range of motoring offences from speeding to dangerous driving.

Chris also advises businesses regarding their investigations into internal fraud, building cases to take forward to prosecution and recovery of assets.

He has developed a reputation for success in a variety of matters both in the Magistrates and Crown Courts. His work includes the successful appeal against conviction for murder (R v Puaca 2005), a case widely used in legal textbooks. Other notable cases include the acquittal of a former British diplomat charged with Misconduct in a Public Office following a ten-week trial in London, and large-scale fraud allegations prosecuted by the Crown Prosecution Service and Trading Standards. In 2016 he also successfully represented a youth charged in the £42 million TalkTalk hacking case.

With over two decades of experience in criminal matters, he has provided legal commentary for national media organisations on a variety of topics including self-defence, harassment and cybercrime. He has also lectured at the University of East Anglia on Criminal Advocacy.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys watching sport, particularly football.
